At first glance, everything looked perfect—it seemed like first-class material. But then he laughed and began to show me subtle markings I had missed. It wasn’t first-class at all; it was a cleverly crafted scam. That day, I realized that no amount of book knowledge could compete with a lifetime of experience. He could tell the quality of the wood simply by touch, sight, and smell—something few traders could match.
This invaluable expertise became the cornerstone of our business. He knew which factories produced the best quality at the right price and even anticipated when discounts would be offered. Together, we turned this expertise into a competitive advantage in the market.
